On Wednesday 11th April, Kindred were proud and excited to attend the New York launch event of CockroachDB 2.0, the latest release from Cockroach Labs, which includes a significant performance uplift.
“The CockroachDB 2.0 release sees the launch of the geo-partitioning feature we designed in partnership with Cockroach Labs. Once fully deployed it will enable us to domicile data more easily than we ever thought possible, significantly reducing latency and very importantly, allowing us to keep our services compliant with the many different regulatory environments we operate in. CockroachDB is becoming the rock-solid foundation for our next generation of infrastructure,” said Marcus Smedman, CTO of Kindred Group.

Whilst we still have some way to go before we have fully deployed the latest release, we have been beta testing it extensively throughout its development alongside the team at Cockroach Labs, so we are very excited that it is now released. Over the coming months, we will continue to work closely with Cockroach Labs to really accelerate the build of our next generation platform. The platform will allow us to continually deliver the best possible gambling experience to our customers, wherever they are in the world.
It was back in October 2017, that Kindred Futures announced the partnership with the New York based start-up Cockroach Labs. Our aim with this collaboration is to support Kindred Group’s rapidly growing global customer base with both very high availability and super low latencies. This is vital for the fast moving in-play betting markets that make up much of our business. With a mission to ‘make data easy’, Cockroach Labs is led by a team of former Google engineers who have had front row seats to nearly two decades of database evolution. The company is backed by an outstanding group of investors including Benchmark, G/V (formerly Google Ventures), Index Ventures, Redpoint, and Sequoia. Read more the partnership here.
