Kindred Australia - A Great Place To Work

Mon, 22 Feb, 2021

Our employees have spoken; Kindred Australia is officially a Great Place to Work. The survey that measures employee experience at the workplace took place last October and we are delighted to be recognised as one of Australia’s best workplaces. Torin Chen, our Content Manager based in the Sydney office, writes about his experience and the things that he feels contribute to this recognition.

A great workplace embodies a spirit of trust, unity and teamwork. They are just a few of the many hallmarks and embedded qualities in the Kindred Australia culture. At Kindred Australia, we are Kindred, and Kindred means family. That spirit of togetherness was even more evident by the way we tackled the changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and came out on top.

A leader in innovation and adaptability, Kindred Australia successfully transformed its business operations from a bustling city office hub in the heart of Sydney to a round-the-clock operation, with employees working remotely during Government-enforced lockdowns. When restrictions were eased and employees were permitted to return to the office, Kindred Australia implemented a range of measures to ensure the health and safety of employees, with instructions on personal hygiene and social distancing around the office

The mental well-being of employees is also hugely important to Kindred Australia and during the COVID-19 pandemic, any employees feeling stressed or anxious were encouraged to take a day off and/or seek support from their line manager or executive management.

Regular updates from the Kindred Australia General Manager and the HR Business Partner Australia also ensured employees were always well-informed about the business’ operations. employees morale was maintained through weekly Friday afternoon virtual drinks, Zoom meetings and racing tipping competitions which provided an opportunity for employees to interact on a social level.

Prior to the lockdown, Operations employees ensured every employee was adequately equipped to work remotely, while additional computer equipment was readily dispersed to employees who required it.

Inside the office, Kindred Australia offers a fully functional work environment with first-class facilities, ample desk space and electronic equipment, a spacious boardroom, multiple meeting rooms and a fully equipped studio for video production and photoshoots.

Additional facilities include a lounge and dining area, an open plan modern kitchen and recreational facilities including a sports bar, table tennis table, putting green and dartboard.

Embedded company values of unity, friendliness, trust, innovation, and a thirst to set and accomplish every challenge all contribute to the success of Kindred Australia’s operations. Employees can also maximise a work-life balance through flexible working hours and an open work from home policy. They are also encouraged and given the opportunity to acquire new skills through internal and external workshops and online learning courses.

Added luxuries for Kindred Australia employees include a professional barista in the kitchen, along with a wide variety of benefits, discounts and rewards. Social events include the annual Christmas party, Melbourne Cup Day celebration and departmental social gatherings.

To celebrate Kindred Australia’s partnership and sponsorship of the leading NRL team, the Sydney Roosters, employees received Roosters jerseys (with the UNIBET insignia on the back of the jersey), from star Roosters winger and former Australian representative Brett Morris.
