The metaverse refers to a virtual shared space where users can interact with a computer-generated environment and each other in real-time. This concept has gained significant attention in recent years, especially with the increasing popularity of online gaming and social media platforms. As the metaverse continues to grow, it is expected to impact various industries, including gambling. With the rise of virtual casinos and digital currencies, gambling companies are starting to explore the potential of the metaverse as a new platform for their operations. The metaverse could provide a more immersive and interactive experience for users and increase accessibility to gambling activities. In line with our Kindred Value, "We seek to innovate", we have decided to explore this new territory. While many 'universes' are available for brands within the metaverse, we have decided to collaborate with The Sandbox, a French online gaming platform that offers a unique and immersive experience to become the 1st betting experience in their platform.
This gaming experience, called Unibet Arena, consists of six challenges in six different areas of our 'metaverse land'. The first step is for our responsible gambling house to communicate Unibet's tools which keep gambling safe. After that, players can enjoy our most popular sports and casino games (Football, Tennis, Basketball, Boxing and Poker). Players were also able to unlock a secret bonus challenge.
The Unibet Arena went live on the Sandbox during ‘French weeks’, an event where 13 other French brands had their metaverse land available for customers from 23 March to 6 April. This event, promoted by the Sandbox, allowed us to give players access to the Unibet Arena. Furthermore, to connect our social media community to The Sandbox environment, we launched some social media contests to award players playing in the Unibet Arena and sharing it on their accounts. We have also witnessed new user-generated content: a YouTube video while completing the quest. The Sandbox core players produce a video to guide others to complete all quests.
